Visits:
Every so often the club runs various ground visits. They have been wide ranging and not always of an aviation theme. Recently the Club visited the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton and the Haynes Motor Museum.
The Annual Dinner:
Held every March the Annual Dinner is the Club’s formal evening of the year where the activities of members and people in the Vintage & Classic aviation world are recognised with the annual awards, nominated by the membership, presented by the guest speaker.
The guest speaker is a member of the aviation community usually with Vintage aviation connections. Recent years have seen Brian Lecomber, Barry Tempest, Melvyn Hiscock, Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown, Arthur Ord-Hume, Mandy Pantall, Sally Ellingboe and the late Ann Welch speak before the assembled members.
For more details of our guest and how to attend the dinner are published in the Club magazine, “Vintage & Classic”.
The AGM & Social:
The Vintage Aircraft Club, in being a Company registered with Companies House, hold their Annual General Meeting in line with these requirements and includes the election of the committee and a report from the Chairman on the previous year.
Any matters relating to the running and the constitution of the Club are also raised and addressed by the membership.
In the past these used to be held at Finmere on a Rally day but as we moved away from out “ancestral” home the AGM moved to an evening “ground” event incorporating a social event too.
2011 saw us return to an airfield event for members only and resulted in the ability for members to fly-in again.
Visits:
In the past we ran visits to places of interest in various parts of the country. Sadly for various reasons these came to an end in recent years but we are actively looking to run more in the near future and to tie up with visits by other clubs including the HAA.
