About the Vintage Aircraft Club

Aims and History

The present Vintage Aircraft Club has evolved from the Vintage Aircraft Group, which was originally formed in 1964. The change of name in 1974 reflected the expanding membership and scope of the club. The aim of the Vintage Aircraft Club is to provide a focal body for owners, pilots and enthusiasts of vintage and classic light aircraft by arranging fly ins and other events for the benefit of its members.

The Committee

The club is run by a committee headed by our Chairman, Anne Hughes. More information about Anne and her views on what the club is all about can be found here. Christine Wright is the Club Secretary. Peter Wright is the Treasurer. Type Club Liason, Press and Public Relations are looked after by Anne Hughes. Events are managed by Steve Le-Vien. Wendy Hinchcliffe is the Membership Secretary. Tim Badham is the Magazine Editor. Trevor Jarvis looks after Flight Safety and is also the Vice Chairman. Sales of VAC Merchandise are managed by Cathy Silk, and the Trophies Steward is Stuart MacConnacher. Contact details for all committee members can be found in the magazine.

Trophies and Awards

There are a number of Trophies and Awards which club members can be nominated for every year. If you would like to nominate a member, a form for doing so is distributed every year with the appropriate issue of the club magazine, or you can download it from here closer to awards time.
